Unicorn Systems has successfully implemented 15-minute resolution in Damas system for Terna Rete Italia S.p.A. company, significantly enhancing the system’s ability to support key business processes across different data resolutions. This upgrade enables Terna Rete Italia S.p.A. and its business partners to respond effectively to dynamic market changes, strengthening their strategic position and ensuring optimal real-time operations.
The 15-minute resolution innovation has moved Damas into a stable and highly adaptable platform that reliably supports the management of all business operations in the energy sector. This key upgrade, launched in December 2024, is now a fully and highly functional part of the existing system.
This enhancement brings a higher level of stability and rapid adaptation to current conditions, allowing users to achieve excellent results and optimize strategic decisions in the energy market.
Within the project, Damas provides extensive support for continuous trading on the XBID platform, including implicit and explicit intraday auctions. This robust system also includes an improved real-time monitoring system, receipt of auction specifications and results, calculation of available capacities and receipt of cross-border nominations.
With a wide range of functionalities, Damas provides clients with a tool that allows them to easily manage and coordinate trading operations and ensures seamless collaboration between connected entities.

The Damas system project, operating since 2007, brings the following benefits to Terna Rete Italia S.p.A:
- Trading on the European intraday market XBID, which was launched in 2018.
- Generation and reception of cross-border nominations (based on results from IPEX for IDA, based on reception from the XBID platform) including their validation, comparison and publication.
- Calculation of available capacities (ATC), management of allocation constraints (NTC) including the ability to work with new types of allocation constraints (constrained/unconstrained).
- Optimization and automation of processes in configurable time intervals, especially for intraday XBID and IDA allocations.
- Expanded possibilities for monitoring system processes and their current status in real-time using new functionalities such as Dashboard or System Monitoring.
- Reporting for internal and external systems of Terna Rete Italia S.p.A.
- Improved configuration of all data streams including new configuration of data resolutions.

As a grid management and transmission operator, Terna Rete Italia safely manages energy flows along 72,000 km of HV lines of the Italian electricity system, ensures the continuity of the electricity supply in the country and is responsible for energy dispatching.
